Thoracic Surgery
Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Thoracic Surgery in November 2002 Prof Dr Salih Topçu and Prof Dr It was founded by Şerife Tuba Liman.
Three academicians work in our department.
The Department carries out education, scientific activities and services related to its field in the Faculty Hospital.
Education;
- Eight assistants were trained. It trained seven specialist physicians, three of whom were academics.
- Department gives lectures in Term 3 and Term 5.
- The contribution was made to the in-service training of rotation assistants, service nurses, surgical nurses and personnel.
- Courses on various subjects were organized, and clinical staff were trained through other domestic courses.
Scientific Activity;
- Dozens of scientific projects were carried out, two of which were TUBITAK projects.
- In addition to being an editor and a referee in international and national journals included in the indexes, nearly sixty research and case presentations were made in these journals.
- In addition to the organization of international and national congresses and scientific activities related to the field, session chairs, and panel discussions, more than one hundred presentations were made.
Service;
- Diagnosis and treatment of all types of lung cancer
- Treatment of patients in all stages of Lung Cancers requiring surgical treatment.
- Diagnosis and treatment of Hydatid Cyst disease
- Diagnosis and surgical treatment of mediastinal tumors and cysts
- Diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of bronchiectasis disease,
- Diagnosis and treatment of adult and pediatric patients with Foreign Body Aspiration (Foreign Body Escaping into the Airway)
