The pediatric ward, which became unuseable after the earthquake occurred on August 17th, 1999, was restructured in a 650 m2 – wide, prefabricated location providing service with 19 newborn and neonatal intensive care, 22 child, and four pediatric emergency beds. Divisions of neonatology, pediatric infectious diseases, pediatric endocrinology and diabetes, pediatric nephrology, and pediatric hematology were founded. In the time course up till today, divisions of pediatric oncology, pediatric cardiology, pediatric neurology, pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric allergy and clinical immunology, and pediatric chest diseases were founded. A pediatric intensive care unit containing four beds was put into service in January 2007.

After having moved to Umuttepe Campus, the department has continued its health services with a total of 83 beds consisting of 25 newborn and neonatal intensive care, 34 pediatrics, 16 hematology and oncology, four pediatric intensive care, and three emergency observation beds.

In addition to those of general pediatric patients; health care services pertaining to specialty fields, such as prematurity and neonatal intensive care, endocrinology (diabetes, hormone disorders, delays in growth and development), hematology (anemia in childhood, bleeding and clotting disorders, hemophilia and leukemia), oncology (diagnosis and management of childhood lymphoma, cancer and tumors), nephrology and rheumatology (kidney and urinary tract disorders, joint and connective tissue disorders), cardiology (diagnosis and management of heart diseases of childhood), devlopmental neurology, diseases of the respiratory tract / asthma (respiratory function tests, allergy tests), and gastroenterology (diseases of stomach, intestine, liver) are provided in our clinics.

Ventilators, monitors, pulse oxymeters, and a blood gas analyzer that are necessary for respiratory support and monitoring of patients are present in our newborn section and pediatric ward. Beginning from the mother's womb, medical supervision and management in our children constitutes the basis of a healthy living. Our department takes this principle as a goal in serving.
